Your Faith Will Make You Well!
By Tom Shanklin
And a certain woman had a hemorrhage for twelve years, and had suffered much under many physicians. She had spent all that she had, and was not better but rather grew worse. When she had heard of Jesus, she came in the crowd behind Him and touched His garment. For she said, “If I may touch His garments, I shall be healed.” Mark 5:25-28 (MEV)
This woman had faith. She believed that SHE would be healed. She didn’t just believe in healing in a general way. She believed that SHE would be healed.
As a result of her faith, she said, “If I may touch His garments, I shall be healed.” Then she put action to her faith and pressed through the crowd and touched the hem of Jesus’ garment.
Now notice what happened:
And immediately her hemorrhage dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. Mark 5:29 (MEV)
Now, look at the order of the events in this story:
- He heard about Jesus.
- She believed.
- She spoke.
- She acted.
- She felt in her body she was healed.
She did not wait to see how she felt to believe. She believed … and then she felt. So many times we want to feel something to determine if we are well. Sometimes you may feel something and sometimes you may not. But the Word is still true either way, and Jesus is still the same. He’s the healer, and He will never change. (Heb. 13:8)
If you wait to feel something, the devil can rob you of your healing. You may receive prayer, and nothing changes or you feel worse. So, then what do you do? You must stand on the Word of God and trust. Then the healing will come.
Notice what Jesus said to this woman:
He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.” Mark 5:34 (MEV)
He could have said, “My faith has made you well.” Or “My strong anointing has made you well.” But instead He said,”Your faith has made your well.” This woman had faith, and it made her well! So, if you want to be healed, have faith!
But how do you have faith? Well, the Bible tells us:
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 (MEV)
How does faith come? It comes by hearing, and hearing comes from the Word of God. It does not come from religious tradition. It does not come from the minds of men, no matter how many theological degrees they have. It comes from the ever-living, never-changing, all-powerful Word of God. If you listen to people’s opinion, you will remain sick. But if you listen to the Word of God, you will receive what He promises, including healing.
Hear it. Believe it. Speak it. Act on it … and receive your healing from the Lord, in Jesus name. Amen.
