You Will Have Whatever You Say [Audio]
By Tom Shanklin
“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” Mark 11:23, KJV.
The confession of our mouth is one of the most powerful tools that we have in the Christian life.
Think of it! We come into the kingdom by confessing “Jesus as Lord.” Then we are encouraged to hold fast our profession, or confession, “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)” Hebrews 10:23, KJV.
We can hold fast to our confession because God is faithful and His Word is true.
You will have whatever you say! Are you saying?
- I never have any money.
- This job is killing me.
- I can’t understand math.
- I can’t quit smoking.
- I have no power over temptation.
Now, there may be a place to acknowledge a weakness and then ask God for strength to overcome, but if we keep saying something over and over, we are reinforcing these things in our life. That’s why I don’t agree with having meetings week after week and saying, “I’m an alcoholic.”
It’s better to say, “I was an alcoholic, but Jesus has set me free!”
Here’s some examples of a good confession:
- I’m a new creature in Christ.
- Sin does not have dominion over me, because I’m not under the law. I’m under grace.
- Jesus is made unto me wisdom.
- I have the mind of Christ.
- I know the truth, and the truth makes me free.
The Gospel will only work for you when you believe it, speak it and act upon it. But if you continually agree with the devil in the things that you say and think, you will be defeated in your life.
Start agreeing with God. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth and that mountain will be removed from your life.
There’s much more on the podcast. Be sure and listen.
On this podcast, you will learn:
- How the words that you speak either defeat you or put you over.
- How you can destroy or build your family with word.
- How you can overcome words that have been spoken against you.
- How to guide your life with words.

You Will Have What You Say
Reading: Mark 11:12-23
“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” Mark 11:23, KJV.
Main Thought: You are guiding your life and predicting your future by the words that you speak.
Humans have the unique capacity to conceive, create, speak forth and produce.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:1, 2, KJV.
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, KJV.
1. Death and Life are in the Power of the Tongue
“A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Proverbs 18:20, 21, KJV.
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31, 32, KJV.
You may be born again and filled with the Spirit, but if you are agreeing with the devil in your speech, you will never be a successful, victorious Christian.
Example: Adolph Hitler, power of evil hate filled words.
Example: Tom depression
Scriptures to overcome depression:
Galatians 5:1
John 8:36
Luke 10:19
James 4:7
1 Peter 5:8-9
Negative Confessions: We reinforce negative traits by our confession. Begin to confess the Wod of God.
You Have Power to Condemn Words Spoken by the Devil and Others Against You
“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.” Isaiah 54:17, KJV.
This is your right as a child of God. You can choose to either live under those words or rise above them.
Your Life is Guided by Your Tongue
“My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.” James 3:1-10, KJV.
“And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.” James 3:18, KJV.
We need the power of the Holy Spirit to control our tongues.
Christianity—the Great Confession
“Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.” Acts 11:14, KJV.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9, 10, KJV.
“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)” Hebrews 10:23, KJV.
“I’m a new creature!”
Conclusion: Do you have a mountain in your life? Speak to it! You will have what you say!
