I was thinking today of Danny. He was in his 90’s. One day while driving down the street with a friend, she said to me, “You should go get my dad saved. He’s mean, I mean really mean! Everyone in the family has witnessed to him, and he won’t listen to any of us. In fact my brother is a minister, and he won’t even listen to him”. She made another comment, I said, well then let’s just go over there and let me witness to him.

She said WHAT?? Are you kidding, he would be so MAD he would probably ask you to leave. I said, well why don’t you just drive me there, introduce me and then go shopping. She was soo nervous, but said OK, she will do it.

So off we went to her father’s house and I met Danny for the first time. He was a great looking fellow who had worked at Santa Anita Race Track for some time and retired.

My friend quickly left to go do shopping, and I sat down in the chair next to his bed. I looked at his life’s journey in the pictures he had on his bedroom wall and began to ask a few questions. Within just a few minutes, I asked him had he ever been BORN AGAIN? Was he ready to die at the ripe ole age he had gotten to? Was he ready to met GOD?

He said NO he had never done that—that his son had tried to talk to him once before. And somehow as I spoke to him, GOD JUST CAME INTO THAT ROOM and Danny opened his heart and ears to hear the Gospel. He bowed his head, and asked God to forgive him of all of his sins and received JESUS CHRIST as His Lord and Saviour! His whole expression changed!

When his daughter returned we shared the GOOD NEWS and she was happy! We went into the kitchen and talked and had ice cream and a great time!

Two weeks ago I got a phone call that Danny had passed away in His Sleep. His Daughter said she was so glad that he had finally received the Lord and knew he had gone to Heaven!!! Isn’t it wonderful, that even at 90 some years old at the end of life, people can still find Jesus, even if they were mean ole men… GOD can change them in the twinkling of an eye—literally! It was not that I was so special, but that someone from out of the family came to visit and share with him the Gospel—and God gave me favour.

If I was here just for the sake of leading that dear precious man out of darkness and into the light—IT WAS WORTH IT! Another soul into GOD’S Kingdom! Thank you for sending me. That soul also goes to your credit as my partner here on Earth. We’re working together for JESUS!! GOD BLESS YOU!
