The Message That Brings Miracles [Audio & Video]
By Tom Shanklin
“Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. And there was great joy in that city . . . But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.” (Acts 8:5-8, 12, NKJV)

Notes: THE MESSAGE THAT BRINGS MIRACLES
“Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. And there was great joy in that city . . . M.T. The message of Christ the promised messiah, the healer, the suffering Savior, and the coming King, will bring miracles, joy, and changed your life.
Mk 16.15-20—Over and over we have seen the results when we “preach Christ.” There are many biblical topics, but this is the ONE that brings miracles. Them that believe. Ordinary people. (Deacon, later called an evangelist)
BACKGROUND Acts 1:8 Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the uttermost parts of the earth. Because of persecution, the disciples were scattered and went everywhere. Why we need evangelist and those who do the work of the evangelist. Roman 1:16, 1 Cor. 1:18 Bridge to the “all the world” ministry.
PREACHING (herald, solemn announcement with authority) CHRIST (Romans 10:17)
1. Christ the Promised Messsiah (44 OT prophecies were fulfilled in the New Testament, and there are more to come)
Samaritan woman….. “The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.”Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.”” (John 4:25-26, NKJV)
They would have known about “Christ,” Samaritans were of a mixed race through intermarriage and mixed relgion and were despised by the Jews, but they had some knowledge of God. So when Philip “preached Christ,” it no doubt resonated with them.
2. Christ the Healer
““how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” (Acts 10:38, NKJV)
Philip would have told them about the miracles that Jesus did like Peter did in his preaching. How he raised the dead, made the lame to walk and the blind to see, and that He had commissioned his follower to do the same. (Jn. 14:12) and it was happening (Acts 3)
3. Christ the Suffering Savior
“Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” (Isaiah 53:4-6, NKJV)
4. Christ the Coming King (Mt. 24:14)
““I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him.Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed.” (Daniel 7:13-14, NKJV)
RESULTS OF PREACHING CHRIST
1. Miracles
2. Great joy
3. People followed the Lord and were baptized
CONCLUSION: Receive Christ today! (Romans 10:9-10)
