“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,‭ ‭‭because He has anointed Me‭ ‭‭to preach the gospel to the poor; ‭ ‭‭ He has sent Me to heal the broken–hearted,‭ ‭‭to preach deliverance to the captives‭ ‭‭and recovery of sight to the blind,‭ ‭‭to set at liberty those who are oppressed; ‭‭ ‭‭‭to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”‭‭ (Luke 4:18-19 MEV)

Jesus read these words from the Isaiah 61 in the synagogue in His home town as He began His ministry. He then sat down and said, ‭“Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”‭‭” (Luke 4:21 MEV) He was telling them that He was the fulfillment of the Messianic prophecy. that He was the Christ, the Anointed One.

We are not Jesus, but we are the body of Christ, and we carry that same anointing. We have been anointed of God as well to proclaim liberty and set the captives free. It’s that anointing that brings heaven’s blessing down to earth so that we can experience His presence, His power, and His love.
