Teamwork Makes the Dream Work [Audio]
Teamwork makes the dream work in world evangelism! It’s not a new revelation, but this truth was so impressed on my heart during our mission to Benin in February of 2018. Two ministries from the United States and all our supporters, a group of fellow workers from Benin, and 60 churches from Lalo, Benin all worked together to reach a city and touch a nation for Jesus.
Each one of us have a part in the work of God in the earth. You are a very important person for world evangelism.
When we work together, we win. When we pull apart, the devil wins. By working together, we can reach the world through Jesus Christ! This is true on many levels—in our families, in our local churches, and on the fields of world evangelism. United, we can reach the world!
This message was preached at the Country Church in Ruthton, Minnesota. Enjoy this message and put it into practice in your life and ministry.
Sermon Notes…
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.” Mark 16:15-20, KJV.
Preach the Gospel: “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4, KJV.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16, KJV.
They (plural) the Lord working with them (plural) Teamwork makes the dream work. We saw this in Benin—2 ministries from the US, 6 on our team (apostle, 2 pastors, 2 interpreters, and a driver/photographer). We also worked with 60 churches in Lalo, Benin, who now have the responsibility to preserve the harvest.
The Lord’s dream is the evangelization of the world. That’s why He gave us the Great Commission.
M.T. As every member of the Body does his or her part, we can reach the world for Jesus.
“And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.” 1 Corinthians 12:21-23, KJV.
Young parts Older parts. Men. Women. Preachers. Business people. Homemakers. Quiet people. Loud people.
Michael Lusk: 36 year old evangelist I learned strategies from. He know about them because an older minister took him under his wing, TL Osborn, and showed him how to do crusades. Too many people are unwilling to invest in others. We need one another. We need the TEAM to function.
FIVE VIPS FOR WORLD EVANGELISM
- EVANGELISTS
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;” Ephesians 4:11-13, NKJV.
Model—Acts 8: evangelist conference in Benin, PAs, we need to restore the office of the evangelist to the Body of Christ. Problem: FADs.
2. THOSE WHO DO THE WORK OF THE EVANGELIST
“But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” 2 Timothy 4:5, NKJV.
Every minister should make it their business to learn how to preach the Gospel to the lost and give an invitation. Wesley told his preachers, “You have one business on earth, to win souls.”
3. WITNESSES
““But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”” Acts 1:8, NKJV.
Ordinary, everyday Christians being a witness in their homes, communities, on the job, at school, where you shop. With a little encouragement and training, you can reach your world. Check out our Believers School of Ministry or have us come and do classes.
4. DISCIPLEMAKERS (teach all nations)
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” Matthew 28:18-20, NKJV.
Often those that are given to teaching and disciplemaking are critical of evangelism. Instead of criticizing one another we should work together, using our particular specialty to reach others for Christ. Check out our BSOM lesson, “Nurturing New Believers,” a message for pastors and for all of us.
5. SUPPORTERS
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” Romans 10:13-15, KJV.
Preachers are needed, but how shall they preach without supporters. The supporters part is just as important as the Go-er. In evangelistic work, you are not supported by those you minister to, so we NEED supporters to make the work possible. Paul talked to the church at Corinth, who he had previously evangelized: “To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man’s line of things made ready to our hand.” 2 Corinthians 10:16, KJV.
TEAM WORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK
“<<A Song of degrees of David.>> Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” Psalms 133:1-3, KJV.
We need to recognize that we are all different, but we are all on the same team. Some may be called to other nations, others may be called to reach their own area. It’s not either-or, it’s both-and. Some may be given to evangelism. Others to discipleship. Others to helps or giving. But we all should be witnesses and we all should have a part in evangelizing the world. What is your part? Are you fulfilling it? Are you ready to start?
We must UNITE for the cause of Christ! Envying and strife greatly hinder the work of God. People get saved when we work together. People are lost and scattered when we oppose one another. This also is one of the reasons we are losing the generations to the devil. Let’s unite, work together and win this world for Jesus Christ.
