“Jesus, Okay”: Saying Yes to the Lord!
Is something missing in your life? You may just need to make a clear-cut decision to follow Jesus. Say “Yes” to the Lord and release the power of God in your life.
“… that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9, NKJV)
I’ll never forget when I first started in the traveling ministry. I was preaching a Gospel message in a church in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. I had a wonderful time proclaiming Jesus’ work on the cross and how He had procured eternal life, healing, and deliverance for us.
The Holy Spirit was anointing my words, and there was an obvious blessing upon the service, but when I gave an altar call for salvation, no one moved. Suddenly, the Lord spoke to me, “You have presented Me as Savior, Healer, and Deliverer, but you have not presented me as Lord.”
When I told the people what the Lord had said and encouraged them to repent and make Jesus Lord of their lives, eight adult men came forward to make a commitment to the Lord.
A Clear-Cut Decision
Sometimes the thing that is missing in people’s lives is simply a clear-cut decision to follow Jesus as the Lord of their lives. They may attend church, read their Bibles, pray, and talk like a Christian, but until they repent and say yes to the Lord, they will have no power in their lives.
I know in my own life, nothing changed until I made Jesus the Lord of my life. As a child, I prayed the sinner’s prayer, I attended church, and I was baptized, but I was still the same old person that I was before.
But the day came when I heard the Lord speak to me, saying, “Turn from the things of the world.” At that moment, I was thinking about my lifestyle, particularly my drug and alcohol habits. I was so awestruck by hearing God’s voice that I simply lifted up my hands and declared, “Yes, Lord!” At that moment, everything changed. The Holy Spirit came upon my life, and I was set free. Those addictions were gone, and I began to experience the power of God in my life.
God’s work of salvation, healing, and deliverance was all completed through the cross of Calvary and the resurrection of Jesus Christ 2000 years ago, but it is only made real in our lives when we submit to His Lordship. When we do this, God delivers us from the power of darkness and brings us into the kingdom of His dear Son.” (Col. 1:13)
A Powerful Testimony
I recently read a testimony that runs parallel to my own. Tommy O’Dell, grandson of the late evangelist T.L. Osborn, was raised in a Christian home and under the influence of his grandfather’s ministry but was living a life of sin and rebellion. He was deep into drug abuse, and nothing his family did seemed to make a difference. They tried to send him to Africa to live with a missionary to get him away from bad influences, but he was the bad influence. His drug abuse continued in Africa, and he later came back to America and continued to destroy his life.
While doing a massive amount of drugs with some friends, he seemed to be dying of an overdose, and his friends dumped him out of a car on the side of the road so they wouldn’t be prosecuted for his death. It was while lying there beside the road in a drug-induced stupor that he uttered the words, “Jesus, Okay!” and his life was totally changed. Now, he is preaching the Gospel around the world and seeing transformed lives and miracles just like his grandfather.
Tommy said that he had prayed the sinner’s prayer hundreds of times, but it was when he said, “Jesus, Okay!” that his life changed. Now, it’s good to pray a prayer for salvation, but unless there is true repentance (turning from sin and unto God), you can utter a prayer and still be in your sins.
There must come a point in your life in which you recognize Jesus as the Lord as Master of your life. It’s not just about quitting your bad habits and acting like a Christian. It’s about finding a totally new life.
What It’s Like to Come to Jesus
After I came to Jesus, I felt like I was living in a totally new world. Everything was different. People told me that I even looked different. I had opened the door to my heart, and Jesus had come in to make His home. His glow was now shining on the inside of me, and people could see it shining out. There have been many trials and problems since then, but one thing is sure. He has never left me. He has always been there to see me through and to give me peace and a way forward.
So I encourage you to say “Jesus, Okay!” or “Yes, Lord!” or however it best comes out of your mouth. Give your life to the Lord, and you will find peace and a bright future in a whole new world.
May God bless you abundantly
