Resuscitating Your Dreams with Susan Shanklin [Audio]
Where’s your dream? Is it sinking into oblivion? Is it about to breathe its last breath? Is it lying under the dust that has settled after the storms of life came?
It’s time to call 911 and start CPR! It’s time to judge God faithful and to believe again for the restoration of those things that He has put in your heart.
Listen and laugh with Susan as she applies God’s defibrillator to your heart. You’ll be encouraged and lifted up to catch the wind of God in your sail and to move forward with your God-given dream and purpose.
Here’s the notes, but the message doesn’t follow them exactly:
RESUSCITATING YOUR DREAMS
By Susan Shanklin
Sometimes we go through life like an old farmer with a team of horses plowing the same field over and over again.
It seems right but you’re not making any process. Yes you bring in a crop but in your heart your are wanting more. More success. More joy. More satisfaction.
People have told you to stay on that certain plot of land. Don’t you dare look over the fence. Don’t you dare buy new horses. “Them old nags are good enough for you.”
Maybe they are telling you you are just not cut out for farming. Your dad was a bad farmer so you must be a bad farmer. (sometimes you’re really good at something and people keep telling you to do it over and over again)
You planted the wrong crop. You had crop failure. You made mistakes.
MAYBE you”re a good farmer! But that’s not what you want to do.
But what does GOD say? Has GOD put a dream in your heart that hasn’t come to pass YET?
God never gave up on you, so don’t give up on yourself!
God told Abram in Genesis 12 that He would bless him and make him a great nation. Abram was 75 yrs old.
Gen 16 Abram lost faith at 86 and had Ishmael.
Gen 17 Abram was 99 and the Lord said you shall be the father of a multitude of nations and changed his name. Sarah was 90!
Heb 11:12 Therefore from one man who was as good as dead, sprang so many a multitude as the stars of the sky and innumberable as the sand by the seashore.
worn out
2a) of an impotent old man
Heb11:11 By faith Sarah herself also received the ability to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised.
Hew 10:35-36 Therefore do not throw away your confidence which will be greatly rewarded.
For you need patience so that after you have done the will of God you will receive the promise!
Don’t throw away your dreams. Don’t throw away your visions.
Failure is the not the end. It’s the start of a new beginning.
Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
You just can’t keep doing the same thing over again and get to that NEW place.
Joseph
fav son, coat, dreams
Gen 37 Joseph’s brother said here comes the master of dreams.
If you are a grounded dreamer. A God dreamer some people just can’t seem to handle it.
With hatred Joseph’s brother decided to kill him but he was spared and put in a well. A dry well.
His own flesh and blood turned on him! Quick FYI that does not make God happy.
They put him in a well…hanging there. Twisting turning. In the dark. Hearing words of death.
Are you twisting and hanging there in pain and despair? Has God left me? Am I a fool for believing?
You can die in the well if you want to or look to get out by a miracle by God. God didn’t put you in the well, but He sure will get you out, if you cry out to Him in Faith.
He is the rewarder of them that seek Him.
Joseph had to hang on to his dream. He had to hang on to his dream in the well, being a slave. He had to hang on to his dream when he was falsely accused. He had to hang on to his dream in prison. He had to hang on to his vision when he saw his brothers.
Joseph had to hang on to his dream of returning to his country.
Hew 11:22 By faith Joseph when he was dying mentioned the exodus of the children of Israel and gave instructions concerning his bones.
You have to SEE the future.
SOOOOOOOO 1Peter 5:8 Be sober and watchful, because your adversary the devil walks around as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Don’t let the devil steal your dreams. Fight and trust God to lead and guide you into ALL truth and His ways! Amen.
