Preaching Everywhere…Including England
By Tom Shanklin
God’s work is not limited to big cities or foreign countries or church buildings or auditoriums. He’s calling us to go forth everywhere—our towns, our schools, rural areas, third world nations, western nations, everywhere—preaching the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ.
In the last verse of Mark’s Gospel, we read, “And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.” Mark 16:20, KJV. I believe this continues to be God’s mode of operation at this very hour. He is continuing to anoint his people to go forth everywhere and he is continuing to confirm his Word with signs following.
In October, I had a wonderful time at New Life Fellowship in Tolna, North Dakota, with Pastor Jeff and Karol Kapelle. The church has experienced revival and numerical growth in recent years and during this visit I could once again sense a rising tide of the presence of God. I spoke on “Touching Jesus” from the story of the woman with issue of blood in Mark 5:25-32. I shared my own experience of being overwhelmed and changed by the power of God when I surrendered to the Lord in 1977 and I challenged the people to live continually in God’s presence and to experience His miraculous power on a daily basis.
While in the area, we held a home meeting in Devils Lake, North Dakota where we once again experienced God’s presence in a wonderful way. Devils Lake is about 25 miles south of Starkweather, where we had held a healing revival in September of this year. Several people from Starkweather came to Devils Lake for the home meeting.
Before the meeting, a woman from Starkweather had gotten into a conversation with another lady at Walmart in Devils Lake. She invited this woman to the home meeting and she came. During the meeting, she received Jesus as Lord and experienced a deliverance from depression. We later received a report that this woman was starting to attend church in Starkweather where she received a physical healing and was seeking God for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Is God good or what?
Revival Service in Mankato
Our revival service in Mankato went very well. There was a small crowd, but God did some big things. One person received Jesus Christ as Lord. Another person rededicated their life. A man testified that he was completely freed of shoulder pain. There was some evident emotional healing, and we prayed for a man concerning alcohol addiction. We also took the opportunity to pray for the university, the churches in our community, and all the missionaries sent out of our town.
Shell Lake Missions Conference
Susan and I attended the 30th Annual Shell Lake Full Gospel Church Mission Conference in Shell Lake, Wisconsin in October. This amazing church in a town of 1,200 people helps to support over 60 missionaries and gave $550,000 to missions last year.
It is so exciting to see a group of people who have such a heart, zeal and faith for missions. It has all come progressively, as they have taken steps of faith, both in their local community and in their missionary endeavors. God has added to the church and united them with ministries from all over the world to do a powerful work for Him.
This was Pastor Virgil Amundson’s final conference as senior pastor of the church. He is turning over the leadership of the church to Pastor Reg Myers. Pastor Amundson will continue to be a part of the church as the founding pastor. He has written a book about his 50 years of pastoring a small-town church that has touched the world entitled “Called to be Faithful.” I had the privilege of helping him with the production of the book. You can order a paperback or eBook copy on amazon.com. I believe this book is a great asset, especially for pastors. It will be not only an inspiration, but it is also full of some very significant nuggets of truth for people interested in building a great church for God.
Preaching Everywhere…Including England
For sometime I have sensed a strong leading from the Lord to minister in England. At the Shell Lake conference I was able to connect with three different ministers from England and the Lord has opened the door for me to preach the Gospel there. A trip is planned for this coming February. I will be ministering in several parts of the nation and also attending a conference for international ministers in the north of England.
England, a nation which God has mightily used to touch the world through missions, has now become a mission field. There are approximately 1,500 missionaries serving there from many nations of the world and there is much work to be done. Only 8.8 percent of the people are evangelical (those who focus on the “good news” of salvation brought to sinners by Jesus Christ). And it is estimated that only one-third of that number attend church regularly. England has become an increasingly secular society, with great problems among the young people. Please pray for our mission to England. And if you would like to help with travel expenses you can use the enclosed reply form
Thank you for your financial support and prayer for this ministry. Everywhere we go, you go with us in spirit. Also, everywhere you go, we go with you. Together we are seeing much fruit and the best is yet to come!
Now “Expecting” in South India
Dear Pastor Tom and Susan, On September 30, I went to preach to the young people in Karimnagar, Calvary Daiva Sannidhi Church (see photo at right). When you were here last, we had a crusade in the church hall near engineering school. In fact we were forced to change the place of meeting because of the problem we had from the Hindu community. While in the church meeting after the message the Lord prompted you specifically to pray for people who had miscarriages. One lady stood. She had two miscarriages already and you prayed for and told that God will open her womb. We praise God that God opened her womb and now she is expecting. She just finished her first trimester. Due in the month of April 2017. It was such a delight to see the joy of the father. We thank God for men of God like you, who sow seeds, and it’s Gods grace that he is allowing us to reap the fruit. Much love…give our love to the laughing lady…sister. Susan. Pastor Deva, Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh, S. India
