Praise Your Way to Victory! [Audio]
By Tom Shanklin
I believe if you will listen to this audio message and apply it in your life, it will help you.
God’s plan for every human being is victory! If you are experiencing defeat, discouragement, depression, and hopelessness, there is an answer in the Word of God—Praise! The secret to victory is to change what is coming out of your mouth. This audio message will inspire and encourage you to praise your way to victory!
The Scripture tells us, “Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength because of Your enemies, to silence the enemy and the avenger.” (Ps 8:2, MEV) When Jesus quotes this scripture, the New Testament uses the words “perfected praise” instead of “ordained strength.” (Mt. 21:16) This tells me that our praise will make the devil to get out of our face and to be quiet. And the good news is that even baby Christians can exercise this authority and have victory over the devil.
Jesus procured the victory when He died for our sins, rose again, and ascended far above all principalities and powers. Now we can get on the victory procession by first receiving Christ and then praising Father God for all he has done.
By praising God, you can:
- Change your attitude.
- Change the atmosphere.
- Change your circumstances.
Enjoy God … and praise Him every day!

Great message Tom, as usual. I printed out your Scriptures and brought them to this Bible Study group I go to for the ladies there. We were studying about anxiety, fear etc… so thought it would be helpful for them. (Minneapolis area)
Just finished listening to your message. It blessed me. I appreciate your ministry. (Thailand)
I have several ‘feeds’ from 3-4 ministers. Amazing as it seems I don’t listen to any some days. Today, i was a bit ‘down’ to say the least. I realized how long it had been since I’d been fed. I came across your Victory Plan teaching, and soon became aware of God’s faithfulness once again. God is so good. I”m very thankful for you. God bless! (Minnesota)
SERMON NOTES: PRAISE YOUR WAY TO VICTORY!
Reading: Ps. 8
Ps. 8:2 Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength because of Your enemies, to silence the enemy and the avenger. MEV
MT: You can change your attitude, the atmosphere, and even the circumstances of your life by praising God.
Mt 21.15 But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were extremely displeased 16 and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are Saying?”jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read, ”˜Out of the mouth of children and infants You have perfected praise’?”
And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. (Colossians 2:15, KJV).
Praise is the will of God…
Heb. 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
1 Thes. 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Ps 34:1 I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Ps 33:1 Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely (MEV, fitting) for the upright.
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: (1 Peter 2:9, KJV).
Praise gives victory…
<<To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.>> O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph. (Psalms 47:1, KJV).
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57, KJV).
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. (2 Corinthians 2:14, KJV).
When we praise Him, we join the victory procession. When we murmur and complain, we go down to defeat.
1Cor. 4:17 Our light affliction, which lasts but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
PRAISE WILL TURN THE TABLES ON THE DEVIL
2 Chron. 20:15 And he said, “Pay attention all Judah, and those dwelling in Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the LORD to you, ”˜Do not fear, nor be dismayed because of this great army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. 16 Tomorrow, go down against them. They will travel up by the Ascent of Ziz. You will find them at the back of the valley, before the Wilderness of Jeruel. 17 It will not be necessary for you to fight in this conflict. Take your positions, stand, and observe the deliverance of the LORD for you, O Judah and Jerusalem.’ Do not fear or be filled with terror. Tomorrow, go out before them, and the LORD will be with you.”
2 Chron. 20:21 And he consulted with the people and then appointed singers for the LORD and those praising Him in holy attire as they went before those equipped for battle saying, “Praise the LORD, for His mercy endures forever.” 22 When they began singing and praising, the LORD set ambushes against Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were defeated.
PRAISE BRINGS THE GLORY OF GOD INTO YOUR CHURCH
2 Chrin. 5:11 And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place: (for all the priests that were present were sanctified, and did not then wait by course: 12 Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:) 13 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD; 14 So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.
PRAISE IS THE VEHICLE TO ENTER THE PRESENCE OF GOD
Ps 100: 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
Praise it the vehicle to bring you into the presence of God. It is the proper protocol to approach the King.
PRAISE GIVES VICTORY OVER DEPRESSION
Is 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; 3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
The devil can only defeat you if he can defeat you in your mind. 2 Cor. 10:3-5 casting down imaginations. Praise is a garment. You must choose to put it on.
You can always find something to complain about. But harsh negative words, murmuring and complaining only bring glory to the devil and empower him. Praise, on the other hand, releases the power and presence of God. Praise is agreeing with the truth, and the truth will set you free.
Example: Recent circumstances: I was down emotionally, but got up in the morning and said, this is ridiculous. This a privilege. Another time we were unhappy about something but knew we shouldn’t be, but it was like a stronghold. Them we praised God, and it broke.
He gives you a garment, but you must put it on.
We all have much to be thankful for, starting with our salvation and all that God has done for us through Christ.
PRAISE ACTIVATES YOUR PRAYERS WITH FAITH
Phil. 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with gratitude, make your requests known to God.
KJV Thanksgiving. Bring that into your prayer life.
Unhappy about your husband, thank God you have a husband.
Unhappy about your church, thank God you have a church.
Unhappy about your ministry, thank God you have a ministry.
If you are a Christian, you have so much to be thankful for.
Rom 8:18 our problems are not worthy to be compared.
1 Jn. 4:4 greater is He that is in us.
Rom 8:37 we are more than conquerors.
CONCLUSION: Let’s cultivate a lifestyle of praise and thanksgiving and enjoy the victory that is our in Christ!
