One Place You Can Always Find Joy
“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Psalms 16:11, KJV.
You may not always be able to find joy in your circumstances. Relationships can be a challenge, too. There may be turmoil in your environment. But there is one place you can always find joy—in the presence of the Lord.
Some have the idea that Christianity is dry, boring and dull. Nothing could be further from the truth. It’s exciting, life-giving, challenging, and pleasurable. There is pleasure the presence of God. You don’t have to try and find pleasure in a bottle, in a pill, or in a fling. In His presence, there are pleasures forevermore.
When Jesus died, He opened the door for you to come into the very presence of God! As the Scripture says, “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,” Hebrews 10:19, KJV. His shed blood means you can enter in and find rest in the presence of the Lord. The price has been paid. The way has been made. You can find forgiveness. You can find acceptance. Enter in by the blood of Jesus.
But even many Christians do not know the joy of living in God’s presence. They know that heaven will be wonderful, but their walk with God in this life has become a duty, an obligation, a chore. They have not learned the joy of communing with God everyday.
Here are three keys to living in God’s presence:
- Quietness—“Be still, and know that I am God…” Psalms 46:10, KJV. Pull aside. Enjoy some alone time. Quiet your heart. Listen to His voice. Be still and KNOW that He is God.
- Holiness—“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:” Hebrews 12:14, KJV. Choose to accept God’s will for your life. Keep your thoughts, imaginations, speech and actions pure before the Lord. Walk in love towards others and live for the glory of God.
- Worship—“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;” Ephesians 5:18-20, KJV. Don’t wait until you get to church to worship God. You can do it every day…all day long.
Start your day with a quiet time with the Lord. Talk to Him. Commit your life to Him. Turn away from attitudes and actions that are not right. Praise and thank Him. Sing to HIm. Love Him. Worship Him. Listen to Him. Then let the sweet fragrance that you find permeate your entire day.
I want to encourage you today. Get on the path of life! Get in the presence of God! In that place you will find what you’ve been looking for all along.
