Monroe Iowa Ministry Report and Looking Ahead with Video [Ministry Update]
By Tom Shanklin
In June, Susan and I had wonderful meetings with Pastor John and Steph Hlad at Solid Rock Church in Monroe, Iowa. On Sunday morning, I encouraged the church with a message called “Your Church Can Touch the World.” I said that small churches can have a big impact if they will take the limits off of their thinking and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.
On Sunday evening, we had announced a healing service and asked everyone to invite someone to come and receive from the Lord. We had a wonderful time sharing about “There’s Healing in the Presence of the Lord..” God’s anointing, presence, glory, and goodness are essentially the same thing. They are the manifestation of God, who He is, in our present environment. Praise His Holy name!
As we proclaimed the Gospel and gave God glory, He manifested Himself in healing power. It seemed nearly everyone who came for prayer was touched. One woman who had severe pain from a rotator cuff injury testified that she was now pain-free. Another lady with a bone spur and other problems in her foot left the meeting pain free. A lady with severe arthritic pain in her hands had a big smile on her face when she discovered that all the pain was gone.
Another young woman testified that she was healed of mental illness (schizoaffective disorder) after I prayed for her two years ago. She is now off her medications, off disability, and is working a job. These testimonies were captured on video and you can view the testimonies above. We give God glory for these healings, since I’m quite sure that these are not things that we can do. As Jesus said, “…without Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 But we thank God that He lives in us and that He does the work.
Looking Ahead!
We have some exciting events planned for this summer, including ministry in North Dakota, Northern Minnesota, and a short jaunt into Canada. I have been praying for Canada and am asking the Lord for open more doors in that Gospel-needy nation.
On Saturday, August 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., we are collaborating once again with Faith Family Christian Center for our Prairie Fires Men’s Conference at Cedrics Supper Club in Hendricks, Minnesota. Men, mark your calendar and plan to attend. Last year, we had men from northern and southern Minnesota, South Dakota, and North Dakota, The theme this year is “God’s Men.” We are excited about lighting a fire that will burn in the men’s families, churches, and communities!
We are also planning our 2nd Annual Harvest Evangelism Conference coming up Oct 13-15 in Mankato. Stan Stunc, missionary to Europe, will be with us again, along with his wife, Sarah. I hope that you will plan to attend. Our purpose is ignite God’s people in their divine purpose of reaching the lost and making disciples. I’m convinced that the greatest revival in people’s hearts comes not when they are swinging from the chandeliers in a meeting, but when they are activated to reach others for Jesus. Prayer Requests
Your prayers are so life-giving for Susan and me. You pray for us and we pray for you and we create a circle of power to change the world. Here are some current prayer needs:
- Pray for our Men’s Conference in Hendricks, that many men would be drawn and changed by the power of God.
- Pray for our Harvest Evangelism Conference. Pray for volunteers, and that every need would be met for this conference and that many people will be activated to reach others with the Gospel.
- Pray for wisdom and guidance for our ministry, the Lord’s clear direction for our itinerary, and for open doors in the United States and around the world. We are working on plans for overseas missions later this year and next year.
- Pray for Susan and me for spiritual, emotional, and physical health, for our family, and for all our relationships.
Together, we can do it!
This month I am thinking of the children of Israel’s battle with the Amalekites. “But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.” (Exodus 17:12-13, NKJV).
Like Israel, we are in a battle. In our case, it’s not with the Amalekites, but with the unseen forces of darkness, and with strongholds that exist in the hearts and minds of people. You are like Aaron and Hur literally holding up our arms with your prayers, giving, and encouragement.
We thank God for all our partners, monthly supporters, volunteers, and supporting churches. With your help, we are pressing on to victory, in Jesus name. God bless you!
