Miracles are Normal!
For the Christian believer, miracles are normal! They are part of life. They are part of walking with God. Nothing is impossible with Him!
After all, it’s a miracle that we can even know Him, that we can be forgiven and be a part of His Kingdom. It’s a miracle that we can be born again.
John Wesley said, “Only the Power that makes a world can make a Christian.”
We are a supernatural people born of a miracle-working God.
God says I will do miracles in your life:
“ … I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.” (Ezekiel 36:26-27, MEV).
A miracle is at the heart of the Gospel. God raised Jesus from the dead. When we believe in that miracle and receive Jesus as Lord, we are born again. We are the miracle children born of miracle faith. Now, we live by faith in the Son of God, who loved us and gave Himself for us. Like Him, we are crucified. Like Him, we are risen. He is risen indeed … and so are we! Hallelujah!
Once we are born again, miracles are just normal. If we believe God raised Jesus, everything else is easy. It’s just a normal part of life!
For example, there was a man named Marvin in the first church we pastored who had a severe leg injury. We prayed for him, and he was instantly healed. As the prophet said, “Ah Lord GOD! Truly, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm, and there is nothing too hard for You.” (Jeremiah 32:17, MEV).
Like two young girls in a rural village in India who had been tormented every night by demons who were totally delivered and slept soundly that night. Nothing is too hard for God!
Like a woman from a Greek Orthodox church in Minneapolis who visited the church we pastored in LeSueur, Minnesota. She wasn’t sure if she was eligible to receive prayer in our church, but her friend encouraged her to go forward. I had completely forgotten about her testimony, but I read it recently on our website. She wrote: “Pastor Tom and Susan prayed for me and I KNEW I was being healed. There was such heat that went through me I began to cry. I felt so good. My back was healed! I am so glad I went. I believe in the healing laying on of hands and recommend it to anyone who will believe. It is better than pills!! Before I had to take the elevator, now I take the stairs.”
Friends, in case you don’t know it, I am encouraging myself in the Lord and encouraging you as well. If God did it before, He will do it again. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hallelujah!
Nothing is impossible with God! He is the God who stretched out the stars and established the earth.
He is the God who overshadowed Mary by the Holy Spirit so that she miraculously conceived the Son of God,
He is the God who pushed the water of the Red Sea to high walls and made the axe head float. Can you see it?
He is the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, who will give us revelation of who He is and what He has done in our lives. We can walk in that revelation and experience the power of His resurrection. We can see miracles every day. It’s just normal!
We need to break through in our thinking into the realm where nothing is impossible. Jesus walked in that realm, and so can we. He says, “Truly, truly I say to you, he who believes in Me will do the works that I do also. And he will do greater works than these, because I am going to My Father. I will do whatever you ask in My name, that the Father may be glorified in the Son,” (John 14:12-13, MEV).
We can do what Jesus did! Yes, that’s what He said. Anything less is substandard. Abnormal. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
Miracles are the personality trait of Jesus. It’s just who He is. When John was in prison and confused, he sent two disciples to ask Jesus, “Are You He who should come, or should we look for another?” Jesus replied: “Go and tell John what you hear and see: The blind receive their sight and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. Blessed is he who does not fall away because of Me.” (Matthew 11:4-6, MEV).
These are the works of Jesus, and we are to follow in His footsteps … but it only comes through union with Him. Even Jesus did it that way. “ … the Father who lives in Me does the works.” John 14:10 partial) We, too, will do those works by the One who lives in us.
We can love one another like Jesus did. We can walk in purity. We can share our faith with power. We can pray for the sick and they shall recover.
And there is more! He walked on the water. He multiplied the food. He raised the dead. We are called to do the same!
It is said that Smith Wigglesworth was more surprised when a miracle did not occur than when it did. That’s the way we should think. We should be miracle-minded because we serve a miracle-working God.
We need to come into another realm. A place of faith. Simple faith. Believing faith. Faith to move a mountain.
Kathryn Kuhlman said, “I’m not a woman of great faith—I’m a woman of little faith in a great big God.”
That’s what we need, faith in a great big God, a God whose eyes are running all over the earth to show himself strong to those whose heart is completely towards Him.
He’s looking for an opportunity to show off His glory, to manifest Himself in the earth. Yes, in your life! Believe it! Accept it! Take it by faith!
Jesus said, “The Law and the Prophets were preached until John. Since then the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it. (Luke 16:16, MEV). It’s time to press into the Kingdom!
Think of yourself as an athlete who is in the middle of a pack of marathon runners in the Olympics. He may not have yet achieved his goal, but he must not lose hope but press on with confidence, keeping his eyes on the prize. Likewise, we have not yet arrived. We have not yet seen all the miracles we desire with our physical eyes, but let us press on into Kingdom living and the full ministry of Jesus!
