Good Reports on Nepalese Translation and U.S. Ministry
By Tom Shanklin
We were thrilled with the following report from our ministry partner in Nepal:
The book, You Can Touch the World, has been a wonderful tool for training the pastors and leaders in Nepal. God has just opened the door for the gospel and Nepal has become a new land for God’s work. It is now urgency for evangelizing the nations. In this heavy harvesting season, this book has become an effective training tool for equipping leaders and pastors for the greater harvest. In 2014, we had trained about 500 pastors with this book and about 200 pastors are regularly using this book to train their leaders in their local level. This year, within three months of time, about 300 pastors and leaders have been trained by the pastors who attended conference in last November in Bardiya. We printed 1500 books but we are almost running out of it. Probably, in October this year, we may have to reprint another 1000 copies for the next conference and training.
An Evangelistic Pastor who attended our pastor conference in last November 2014. Almost every day he goes to a different village and does evangelism. Here is what he said, “The book, You Can Touch the World has been a great resources to me to know what I am doing and to understand how I can train other for the ministry of evangelism and church planting. I am teaching a group of 50 pastors once in a week through this book. In every meeting on the week, I use each chapter of the book to train them. And also not only to the pastors, but to the members I teach from this book. So this is a great tool for me in my ministry. Now, I can teach each chapter even without the book because it has become so familiar to me.” As like Pastor Badri, there are many who have shared their blessings and experiences with this book. In fact, this book is under a big demand.
Susan and I are often amazed by the love and support of the partners of this ministry. Your words of encouragement, your financial support, and your prayers are so meaningful and powerful in our lives.
In March, we had some wonderful meetings. At For His Glory Church in Spring Grove, I spoke on “Love, Honor, and Respect.” This message has been well received wherever I have shared it. Later, I made a Podcast of this message. We have started a new series of Podcasts which you can listen to anytime on our website. Some of our messages which we have preached in the churches and even overseas are available there as well. Check it out and subscribe to our Podcasts on iTunes or on your mobile phone if you are technologically inclined.
Early in March, Susan spoke at a women’s meeting at Living Word Church in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Living Word is one of the churches where we enjoy a close relationship. They have been supporters and prayer partners for many years, and Pastor Nate Belkstrom serves on our Board of Directors. Susan had a wonderful time with the ladies and I tagged along to carry her briefcase. Check out the “selfies” on the back page.
Another church where we have been blessed and encouraged is the Country Church in Ruthton, Minnesota. We were also there in March. I spoke on “Touching Jesus,” about the woman with the issue of blood, who touched the hem of Jesus’ garment and was healed. That message was recorded, and you can find it with the other Podcasts on our website. One young man came forward for assurance of salvation, which blessed my heart.
From time to time, I speak at nursing homes here in Mankato. In March, I spoke at the Hillcrest Nursing Home on the subject, “Heaven and How to Get There.” Many raised their hands to indicate a desire to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Then most of group confessed their faith in Him and His Lordship over their lives.
Another highlight in March was an opportunity to share on “Leading People to Christ” at an Inspire Training Session for Gentle Shepherd Ministries here in Mankato. Gentle Shepherd Ministries, led by Pastor Jerry and Dorphia David, is a wonderful ministry reaching out to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, jails, and detention centers in Mankato and the surrounding region. It was an honor to share with the workers and to pray for effectiveness for all of us in reaching people for Christ.
Thank you for being a part of this ministry! Susan and I are praying for you every day.
