Ministry Update: Special Promises to Givers to the Gospel!
By Tom Shanklin
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19, KJV.
Folks, my God is rich! He will never have a recession, depression, or economic slowdown. He will never be scratching his head wondering how he’s going to meet the needs of the universe. There are rich deposits in the kingdom of heaven, and all of them are yours as you connect with him and His plan.
Paul’s letter to Philippians is really a letter to a church which had partnered with him in the Gospel. When he said, “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory,” he was speaking specifically to them as supporters of God’s plan to reach the world. As a giver to the Gospel, this is a promise to you as well. You can have confidence that our God will supply all your need.
We all have needs in our lives. We have needs today and we will have needs tomorrow, next month and next year. Many people struggle with anxiety over their needs and their future, but God’s Word says, “My God shall supply ALL your need…”
How will God do this? He says, “…according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
- Not according to the economic conditions.
- Not according to your bank account, 401K, or IRA.
- Not according to the circumstances of your life, but according to His riches in glory.
Jesus said, “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:19-21, KJV.
Economies may crumble, businesses may fold, banks may fail, IRAs may be devalued, but the bank of heaven will never go broke. My God has an infinite amount of wisdom, knowledge, grace, compassion, healing, favor, comfort…and money, too. He says that the silver and gold are His (Haggai 2:8) and the cattle upon a thousand hills. (Psalms 50:10). You can trust the Lord for all your needs, including financial.
I want to encourage you to not live your life according to natural human thinking. Don’t be consumed with all your worldly needs, “What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?…But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:31,33, KJV. I have found by personal experience that when I put God’s kingdom first, he makes sure that my natural needs are supplied.
Many Christians are like the elder brother in the parable of the Prodigal Son, who was disappointed when his father threw a lavish party for his younger brother, “And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf. And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.” Luke 15:29-31, KJV.
God is saying to you today, “All that I have is thine.” He’s saying, “You are a joint heir with Jesus. You are a partaker of the inheritance. The Lord is your shepherd, you shall not want.” So, set your affection on things above, not the things beneath. This world is passing away, but the Word of God will endure forever. Trust Him! He will not fail you!
TEACHING EVANGELISM TO MINISTERS
In October, I had the privilege of teaching evangelism workshops at the Kingsway Fellowship International World Convention in Des Moines, Iowa, a ministry fellowship of which I am a member. I taught sessions on “Sharing Your Faith as a Lifestyle” and “Successful Evangelistic Events.” It was a great experience to speak to enthusiastic ministers from around the world. We had positive feedback on the workshops and we are trusting that seeds of encouragement and creativity for evangelism were planted that will result in many people from many nations coming to the knowledge of Christ.
THANK GOD FOR MISSIONS NIGHT
We had a wonderful time in mid-October, sharing our vision to reach the world at the Tom Shanklin Ministries Missions Night held here in Mankato. Some wonderful friends joined us to pray for us and invest in our upcoming trip to India and the overall mission of this ministry. It was good to have an opportunity to share the mission that God has given us “to unite with the whole Body of Christ to reach the whole world with the whole Gospel of Jesus Christ.” The Lord really used the people in attendance to encourage Susan and me and to prepare us for our upcoming trip to India. Pastor Bob Holmbeck of Gaylord Assembly of God gave everyone a homework assignment to pray Psalm 91 over us while we are in India.
NEXT STOP—INDIA!
At the time of this writing, Susan and I are praying and enthusiastically looking forward to our trip to India on November 1-17. Our mission will take place in southern India, in cities and villages within driving distance of Hyderabad, Telangana, India. We will be holding Pastors Conferences focused on evangelism training, Village Evangelistic/Healing Services, and Women’s Conferences with Susan. We will also be ministering in the missions church in Hyderabad which our ministry has supported.
We will also be distributing the Telugu translation of our book, “You Can Touch the World” to leaders. Miraculously, we were given an excellent price for printing the book of just over $1,000 for 1,000 copies. The book is slated to be completed on October 30, two days before we arrive. Pray that everything will go smoothly on the printing process, that we will be able to distribute the books, and that they will bear much fruit for the kingdom of God. Here’s some other specific prayer needs for our mission to India:
- Pray for safety for Susan and me and our team in India.
- Pray for good health and protection from all sickness and disease.
- Pray for open hearts to receive the Gospel.
- Pray that God will be glorified through signs, wonders and miracles.
- Pray that many workers will be ignited to reach the nearly 1.3 billion people of India.
- Pray that women will be lifted up and encouraged through Susan’s ministry to them.
We have been blessed with some wonderful financial gifts to help us to fulfill this mission plus our regular support. Many have given sacrificially to see this mission accomplished. The Lord is pleased with your giving to the Gospel. At the time of this writing, finances are still needed to help with the printing costs and conference/crusade expenses. Your giving this month will help to meet those expenses and to keep us going forward with God’s purposes for this ministry. Please give as you are led by God, and rejoice that you can be a part of reaching people with the wonderful Gospel of Christ, both here in the U.S and around the world.

Susan and I continually pray for our ministry partners and supporting churches that OUR GOD will supply all YOUR need, according to HIS riches in glory. This includes not only finances, but health, wisdom, favor, peace, victory, blessings on your family, and every good gift which comes from above. We are believing God with you and joining with you in faith for these things.
May God richly bless and enrich your life and lead you forth into His everlasting Kingdom, in Jesus’ mighty name.
