Jesus’ Church is Moving Mountains in Nepal
By Tom Shanklin
Thanks to all of you who gave for the Nepal Disaster Relief Offering, and also to those who enable us to do this and many other projects through your regular financial support and prayers. You are a blessing to us and to the work of God in the earth.
We have received $3701.00 for the Nepal Disaster Relief effort. We have already sent over $2,000 to our friends at Bible Living Ministries and plan to send the remainder on June 1st.
Your investments are already working in a strong way to bring help to those in need in the earthquake stricken country. the Bible Living Ministries team, along with believers from churches in Kathmandu, have literally carried shelter and supplies on their backs to devastated villages in the mountainous Dhading District. These particular villages are ones that could not be reached by helicopter because of the steep terrain. Even as I write, the team is preparing for a second relief effort in Dhading.
Bible Living Ministries said, “We express our thanks to all of you who has been praying and continually supporting the Nepalese during the national devastation. Today is the 15th day of the earthquake that came to Nepal but many shocks after earthquake are still happening. So far, 7,802 people are dead, 16,434 are injured and 288,798 houses completely and 254,512 houses are partially destroyed. Never stop praying for Nepal.”
I am so proud of Jesus’ church in Nepal. At the time of their own need, they are responding with the love of Christ to the needs of their fellow countrymen, both Christian and non-Christian.
Through our prayers and giving, we can make a difference and help alleviate human suffering. And it is also a chance for the church of Jesus Christ to shine as a great light in a dark world. This is what is happening in Nepal and I am so glad that you and I have a part in it.

A Fruitful Time of Ministry in Kalona, Iowa
In May, I had the opportunity to minister for three days with Pastor Ron and Suzette Breese and Full Gospel Revival Center in Kalona, Iowa. It was good to have a chance to develop a theme and minister for a series of meetings. It was also good to spend some time with a strong local church that is moving forward in God. This June, the church will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Praise God for longevity of ministry and the generations of families serving the Lord together in the same local church.
In the Friday, I spoke on “The Door is Open. The Way is Made” (Heb. 10:9, John 10:9) about our access to the very presence of God through what Jesus did on the cross. Jesus is our open door to a personal relationship with God and every blessing that comes with it. On Saturday I spoke about “Dr. God” (Exodus 15:26) how the Lord proclaims Himself to be our physician and that as we come to Him we can receive healing in every area of life. There were testimonies of emotional and physical healing.
On Sunday, I spoke on “The Ministry of the Believer” (Ephesians 4:1,11-12) and challenged the saints to do the work of ministering towards building up Christ’s body, the church. Finally, I spoke at a Sunday Luncheon for the church leaders on the subject of working together. I called the message, “Let Us!” based on Nehemiah’s call to “Let us build up the wall…” (Nehemiah 2:17) It was a busy and fruitful weekend.
As Paul said, “…we are labourers together with God…” 1 Corinthians 3:9, KJV. Together we are touching lives and reaching the world. You are continually in our hearts and prayers!

Thanks for coming and sharing. It truly was fruitful. To God be the Glory!!! Your teaching to our leadership struck a chord in me. “Let us” is the strength of long lasting and fruitful ministry. I’m planning on using this theme for our 50th Anniversary this coming June. Thank you for obeying the Holy Spirit and your ministry to this body. (Pastor Ron Breese, Full Gospel Revival Center, Kalona, Iowa)
It was great to see you guys and to hear Susan for the first time at Gary. I had heard many amazing things about her. So glad I was able to come to both meetings on Saturday. I was super blessed and encouraged! (Minnesota)
Your last article, “The Impossible is Totally Possible” was absolutely “timely.” I was hit with scary sickness and disease symptoms, and your article was medicine for my soul. I am taking God’s medicine (the Healing Scirptures) and have received my healing. Not all symptoms are gone…I believe they will be! I am blessed to have you both in my life. (Arizona)
Thank you for the timely posting “How to Find Shelter in the Storms of Life.” I will now go back over it, (I skimmed through it, initially hoping for…well, hope for today! (Later) Wow! I read it outloud, it’s even more powerful with extra intonation. I am now empowered. (Fairbault, Minnesota)
I pray daily for you and sister Susan, the ministry, and the believers in Nepal who were affected by the earthquake. The harvest here is plenty and God is expanding His work. The good news is that my wife gave birth to a baby boy a week ago and we decided to honor you by calling him Thomas. God bless you so much! (Pastor from Kenya)
