Ministering in Avoca, Minnesota
Avoca is small, with a grand total of 146 residents in the 2000 census. But there’s a great little church there called Word of Faith Fellowship, led by Pastor John Stenen, which help of his wife Terry. This couple has been faithful for many years to hold up the banner of Christ’s love and power in their part of the world.
I first heard about John back in the ’80s, when he was holding tent meetings in western Minnesota. Around that time we were also doing tent meetings in and around the Twin Cities area.
John is a very evangelistic pastor, and there is a real good spirit of Christian love in the church. It’s a very family orientated atmosphere.
A arrived about 20 minutes late for Sunday School. I had set my alarm for 5:30 p.m. instead of 5:30 a.m. Oops. With what time was left in the Sunday School hour, I spoke on Prayer.
“And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;” Luke 18:1, KJV. With all the troubles in the world today, we may be tempted to faint. But no, we won’t faint, we will pray. I spoke about praying for laborers for the harvest, praying to aline our hearts with the will of God, praying for power in our lives, and intercessory prayer for the lost.
In the main service, I was led to speak on “Don’t Limit God.”
