Ministry Update: Let Us! Powerful Words for World Evangelism

Pastor Ondrej Gazi of Derby with 10 people he baptized.
By Tom Shanklin
“Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach. Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king’s words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.” (Nehemiah 2:17-18, AV)
When Nehemiah spoke to God’s people, he first acknowledged the problem. Jerusalem is lying waste. The gates are burned with fire. Today, we could make a similar statement. There are great problems in our cities, in our nation, in our families. Sin abounds. Many churches have left the lynch-pins of the Gospel for humanistic teaching. But it’s not time to give up. Let us build up the walls!
Then Nehemiah told them that the hand of God was upon him, and how he had found favor with the Persian king, Artaxerxes. Then the people responded, “Let us rise up and build.”
“Let us!” Two very powerful words. We could say “I can” or “I will,” but better yet, “Let us!” Let us rise up and build!
Let Us Reach the World!
Since we entered into this evangelistic ministry in 2005, we have seen the great benefit of teamwork. Together, we can touch the world. This is God’s plan—working together with pastors, congregations, missionaries, and believers around the world. We have accomplished the most when we have worked together.
One example of this is our ongoing relationships with the men and women with whom we have labored on the field in various nations of the world. We have seen the fruit of their ministries, and we have shared together in the harvest. Some of them we support monthly, others from time to time, but there is a bond that will carry into eternity.
One of these divine connections is with Stan and Sarah Strunc, missionaries to the UK and Europe. We have worked together with them in the UK and in the United States.
Stan reported last month that one of the pastors he works with, Pastor Ondrej Gazi of the Czech and Slavic speaking congregation of All Nations for Christ Church in Derby, England, baptized 10 new believers. Stan provides mentorship and oversight to this pastor and congregation. Stan was able to visit the church in September and encourage the new converts. Susan and I have also preached in this church several times. This is real fruit for the Kingdom of God, and we are excited to have a part of it.
Another missionary who we support is Pastor Davis Juma of Funyula, Kenya. He reports that he is using funds that we sent to him to hold a ministry school in his church to train people for evangelism. He uses our Believers School of Ministry material. Our relationship with Pastor Juma began when we sent him a copy of our book, “You Can Touch the World,” which he said transformed him from an ordinary stay-at-home pastor to a firebrand evangelist to the nations.
In September, we were also able to send funds for the second sewing machine for the Tabitha Project in Benin, West Africa. This new machine will help the first sewing center in Benin to become more productive. We are also sending funds for the Benin Bible School as we are able.
The gifts we send are not always large, but we are seeing that the seeds we plant are growing, and God is blessing and utilizing the relationships that we have developed over the years.
You are Part of the “Let Us” Crew!
Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of our partners and partnering churches. You are part the the “Let us!” crew also. Together we are making a difference. Together we are touching the world. Thank you for being a part!
