Imagine! Benefits of Scriptural Meditation
By Tom Shanklin
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalms 1:1-3, KJV.
The word meditate here means to mutter, ponder or imagine. Imagine! Imagine means to see a picture on the inside. See yourself the way that God sees you today. See yourself the way the Word describes you.
You are like a tree planted by the waters. The waters will not fail you. You will be leafy green. You will bear much fruit. Everything you touch will prosper.
When your imagination is directed through the Word of God and empowered by the Holy Spirit, it is not a fantasy. It is reality! That inward reality will literally flow out into your daily life and produce the fruit of righteousness.
Today, I want to encourage you to meditate on God’s Word. Take it as your own. Don’t just read it. Don’t just quote it. These things are good, but now take it a step further. Take it deep into your heart. Let it form a picture, a blueprint for your life.
- See yourself well.
- See yourself holy.
- See yourself free.
- See yourself happy.
- See yourself helping people.
- See yourself sharing Jesus in your daily life.
- See yourself loving the Lord and walking in victory.
It’s a good day to Imagine good things!
