You can overcome sickness and disease!

Thank God for the many miraculous healings we have seen. But while we rejoice in the instant healings, I have a burden for those who do not receive the manifestation of their healing right away. Too often, they go away discouraged thinking, “I guess God did not want to heal me.”

Not everyone is healed instantly, but that does not mean that healing is not for you. Sometimes you need to stand in faith for your healing, get into the presence of God, and resist the devil.

This message gives you WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS about divine healing, and not man’s tradition. On this podcast sermon:

HOW TO OVERCOME SICKNESS AND DISEASE

“<<A Psalm of David.>> Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psalms 103:1-5, KJV. crowneth—to compass or surround.

DIVINE HEALING IS A BIBLE DOCTRINE

Exodus 15:26—I am the Lord that healeth thee

Isaiah 53:4-6 YLT—Surely our sicknesses he hath borne, And our pains — he hath carried them…

Mt. 8:17—“That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.”

1 Peter 2:24“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

Mark 16:18, KJV. “…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

James 5:14, 15 “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.”

-God is capable of healing you: “He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.” Psalms 105:37, KJV.

-AG doctrinal statement—healing is in the atonement

-Episcopalians—their scholars studied divine healing and concluded that it’s biblical.

In reality, there is nothing controversial about it. It’s an established Bible doctrine.

SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO STAND TO RECEIVE YOUR HEALING

I have a burden for the sick, because I know what a misery it is. I have seen people healed miraculously and instantly by the power of God. Praise God for that. But too often, when someone does not receive an instant manifestation, they think, “Healing must not be for me.” Or, “God must not want to heal me.”

Man in Marshall instantly healed, but it doesn’t always work that way. Hendricks man healed of heart pain. At Country Church, couple receives a miracle child 9 months after prayer.

Two twins: both healed, but two different ways.

Dodie Osteen: Liver cancer, prayed for by the “best.” But she needed to personally lay hold of her healing. She got her eyes off herself, got everything right with the Lord in all her relationships, stood toe to toe with the devil and resisted him, started going out and praying for others. She ended up outliving her husband.

GET YOUR EYES OFF OF YOURSELF AND ONTO JESUS (Romans 10:17, Hebrews 11:1

In most of the healings in Jesus’ ministry, the Bible tells us that the person’s faith was involved.

“And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.” Mark 5:34, KJV.

“Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.” Matthew 9:29, KJV.

“That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” Hebrews 6:12, KJV.

“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:12, KJV.

John 3:14-15—Numbers 21—look at the serpent on the pole; get your eyes on Jesus, see your sins AND sicknesses on Him.

FIGHT SICKNESS AS AN ENEMY

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” Acts 10:38, KJV.

“And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.” Luke 13:10-13, KJV. “And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?” Luke 13:16, KJV.

Doctor who was not instantly healed, but changed diet and was healed.

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7, KJV.

Submit—subordinate, obedience Resist—stand against, oppose, withstand

“Neither give place to the devil.” Ephesians 4:27, KJV.

PUT UP YOUR FORCE FIELD OR ENERGY SHIELD (we live in a toxic environment & need protection)

“But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.” Psalms 3:3, KJV.

-Star Trek & Star Wars—force field around the ship. Also around planets.

-Earth—scientist have discovered an invisible shield about 7200 miles above the earth which is part of the Van Allen Radiation belt. It protects the earth from killer electrons produced by solar storms. These energy bands swell and shrink in response to incoming radiation from the sun. Of course, scientists have not been able to explain why or how this happens. There is actual research into developing energy shields for space craft.

“The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.” Romans 13:12, KJV.

“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet. The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”
