Harvest Conference Fuels the Fire [Ministry Update]
Check out this video from the Harvest Conference produced by Stan Strunc.
By Tom Shanklin
Well, it finally happened. The Harvest World Evangelism Conference of 2019 is in the books. There was much anticipation, prayer, preparation, and tribulation, but by the grace of God, we had a conference, and it was a great success.
For me, this conference was a very significant milestone in my journey. It seemed to do something in my spirit, which is hard to explain, but real. I have a greater sense of purpose, direction, and faith. I BELIEVE we are going to do this. We are going to fulfill our mission, our part of the Great Commission, and while we are at it, we will inspire others to do the same.
I wish I could say that all the messages from the eight different speakers are available on our website for you to listen to, but unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, all of the messages, except Susan Shanklin’s, were lost. Be sure to check her message called “Don’t Believe the Lie.” One person said that to them, personally, it was the most important message of the conference. Many people never fulfill their destiny because they believe the lies of Satan. Susan challenged us to leave the lies behind, believe what God has said about us, and move forward in Christ.
Stan Stunc, missionary to Europe, shared a powerful message on “Answering the Call of God.” He spoke about Samson, who made some serious missteps but ended up fulfilling his mission to destroy the Philistines. He spoke also of the woman with the issue of blood, who “found her voice” after coming to Jesus.” Stan also challenged us with another message on “Evangelism as a Lifestyle,” where he shared miraculous testimonies of healing and evangelism, and encouraged us that evangelism starts with truly knowing Jesus.
Stan’s wife, Sarah Strunc, gave us another perspective on “Sharing Jesus in the Workplace,” encouraging us to reach people with kindness and love of Christ, where we live and work.
Pastor Bob Holmbeck of Gaylord Assembly of God and chaplain at the Sibley County Jail spoke on “Fulfilling the Call of God,” and shared the life of miracles that he and his wife, Judy, have experienced in walking out their calling for Jesus.
Jerry David of Gentle Shepherd Ministries in Mankato brought another perspective as he shared about “Reaching the Forgotten.” Jerry, his wife Dorphia, and the many volunteers of their ministry are providing spiritual care to people in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, jails, and detention centers. He challenged us concerning the great loneliness that exists in these facilities. This is an area where the Church needs to become activated for the needs as well as the great harvest of souls in these facilities.
We were blessed to have a missionary we support from an Asian nation. His challenging message was on “Making Disciples for the Harvest.” He challenged us to awaken to the great needs of world evangelization, including India, where only an estimated 3 percent of the 1.3 billion people are Christian.
Kim Ellison and her friend, Carol Cain, led us in worship for the conference. Kim also shared a message on “A Vision for the Harvest,” which emphasized that everyone has a unique part in bringing in the harvest of souls. Kim shared a powerful testimony about how the Lord drew her into street witnessing on the intercity of Minneapolis.
We left with a fresh attitude about the Great Commission—“Let’s get ’er done!”
Eastern Europe Here We Come!
Our next overseas trip is coming up in February, and I would like to ask you to pray for this awesome mission opportunity. Susan and I will be preaching in Poland, Serbia, and the Czech Republic, teaching pastors on evangelism, and holding evangelistic/healing services.
Many Americans need an extreme jolt in their minds to come to realize that the nations of Europe are no longer Christian, but are far away from God. EUROPE IS A GREAT MISSION FIELD. Just to give you an idea, here are some statistics from Operation World: The Definitive Prayer Guide to Every Nation:
Nation | Evangelicals |
---|---|
United States | 28.9 % |
Poland | 0.3 % |
Serbia | 0.6 % |
Czech Republic | 0.7 % |
Only God knows the number of born again Christians in a given nation, but these figures give us a pretty clear picture of the spiritual landscape. I am excited that our ministry can have a part in bringing the message of Jesus Christ to eastern Europe, and encourage leaders in their capacity to reach others for Christ.
I am estimating the costs for our mission to eastern Europe at $4,000. Of that, $2,000 will be used for airline tickets, which we would like to purchase this month. If you would like to invest in reaching lost souls in eastern Europe, please use the enclosed reply form.
We are so thankful for our partners and partnering churches, who make this work possible. Partnership opens doors that would otherwise be closed to the Gospel. Together, we are touching the world. We are so glad you are on our team. We pray for you continually and rejoice because of your service to King Jesus! Great blessings!
