Goody Two Shoes Sinners [Audio]
By Tom Shanklin
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23, KJV.
Many of us knew that we were sinners before we came to Christ. It was obvious! But for others it may be more difficult to discern.
They live pretty good lives. They look good on the outside. They pay their bills. They don’t steal or kill, but inwardly there is no change. They are still in their sins. These are goody two shoes sinners, and the first step in their salvation to recognize their need for the forgiveness that only comes through Jesus Christ.
This podcast comes from a radio broadcast I did with Pastor Norm Gullingsrud on KRJB Radio in Ada, Minnesota.
Below are some of the scriptures mentioned in the message:
“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” Romans 3:19-26, KJV.
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” Romans 5:12, KJV.
“But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard. He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went. And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.” Matthew 21:28-32, KJV.
“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.” Matthew 23:27, 28, KJV.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9, 10, KJV.
The ABCs of Salvation
- ADMIT you are a sinner.
- BELIEVE that Jesus died for your sins personally and rose again.
- CONFESS that Jesus Christ is Lord (ruler) of your life and follow Him.
God has a wonderful future planned for His children. As the scripture says, “…Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9, KJV. Heaven will be more glorious than any of us can imagine. God’s presence and love permeates the entire atmosphere, and He wants you there with Him. If you have not done so before, you can receive Jesus Christ now by praying sincerely from your heart:
Dear God, I know I’m a sinner. I have not done right. My heart has not been right. Forgive me. I turn my heart to you. I believe that Jesus died for me and took my punishment. I believe He rose again. I accept Jesus as my Lord and I will follow Him. Thank you Father for pardoning me and receiving me into your family, in Jesus name. Amen.
