God, Will You Help Us?
This poem written by Kim Ellison expresses the cry of God’s people. It is only from the Lord that we can find the help that we need in these desperate times. Tom
God, Will You Help Us?
By Kim Ellison
The day has darkened
With a cloud of despair.
The shadow of death
Lingers everywhere.
God, will you help us?
The soul of a nation
Ever-changing life.
People drowning
In tension and strife.
God, will you help us?
Lies and deception
Carry many astray.
Sorrow, oppression
Increase day by day.
God, will you help us?
The nations rise up
With a shout of war.
Fear, destruction
Famine and gore.
God, will you help us?
The love of many
Growing cold.
For a moment of pleasure
Souls are sold.
God, will you help us?
The unborn baby
Cries for life from the womb,
But in mother’s heart
There is no room.
God, will you help us?
Humanity’s spirit
becoming faint and weak.
Foundations are cracking.
The future looks bleak.
God, will you help us?
Draw close to Me
As the day draws near.
Trust in Jesus
You need not fear.
Yes Child, I will help you.
