Getting Free of Condemnation!

“Therefore, brothers, let it be known to you that through this Man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, (Acts 13:38, MEV).
Are you living under condemnation?
Maybe it’s a sin from years past that continues to hang like an albatross around your neck. Or it could be judgemental words spoken by a family member that are like daggers ripping apart your soul. Or perhaps it’s an error you made, and regret is following you like a bloodhound.
It’s time to let it go! Through this Man, [Jesus] forgiveness of sin is proclaimed to you!”
Forgiveness! That’s what the Gospel is all about. The word translated forgiveness means “release from bondage or imprisonment, forgiveness or pardon, of sins (letting them go as if they had never been committed), remission of the penalty.”
Jesus died a cruel, tormenting death so that you could be released from the bondage of condemnation. Once you repent of your sins, they are buried forever in the depths of the sea. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, God chooses to forget your sins. So why are you still holding on to them?
The Bible tells us that Satan is the “accuser of the brethren.” He is doing all he can to accuse you of wrongdoing. If he can’t entice you to live a life of sin, he will work overtime to tell you that you are not good enough and that you have failed too many times for God to love you. And Satan will inspire others to judge and condemn you and convince you that you are a miserable sinner, as well.
Now, it’s time to believe God’s Word. He has told us, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9, MEV). All means all! No matter what anyone says.
Here’s God’s remedy for condemnation:
- Repent
- Believe the Gospel
- Let it go!
If God was willing to allow His Son to be sacrificed so that we could be forgiven, who are we to refuse such a gift? We need to start agreeing with God and rejecting the devil’s accusations. We overcome the devil by the blood of Jesus and the word of our testimony. Let’s start believing and speaking in line with God’s Word. Pray a prayer like this, and say it over and over until you believe it:
Dear Father, I thank you for Jesus who died for my sins and rose again. I turn from every known and unknown sin, and I trust you to forgive me because of what your Son did on the cross. Your Word says you make me righteous, so I confess that I am righteous. Yes, I am righteous because you say so. You say you love me, and you are my Father. Today, I choose to let go of all condemnation and to live free, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
