Four Churches Participate in Twin Valley Outreach
By Tom Shanklin
In July we held an Evangelistic Outreach at Twin Valley, Minnesota. This is the town where we started out in ministry in 1983 and pastored for 2 1/2 years. Some of the saints who were part of that church participated in the outreach. It’s good to see fruit that remains. They have remained true to their calling.
Four churches participated in the outreach—Good News Fellowship Church of Gary, The Christian Outpost of Twin Valley, Healing Waters Church of Mahnomen, and the Cowboy Church of Twin Valley.
On Sunday morning we had a united church service. I preached on “God’s Presence Brings Healing.” We ministered to several people for physical and emotional healing and also prayed for the area pastors and their wives.
Then in the afternoon, we had a Gospel Music Festival featuring four different singers or singing groups. During the festival I preached an evangelistic message based on John 14:6: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6, KJV. Four people made decisions for the Lord.
I believe that this is one way we can hold a successful evangelistic event in the United States. Have a music festival or some type of event that will draw people and take some time during the event to preach the Gospel. This is what Franklin Graham is doing now with his Rock the River or Rock the Lakes Festivals. He’s using music to draw young people and then preaching the everlasting Gospel of Christ to them. “Go ye in to all the world and preach the Gospel…” Find a way and just do it. His word will not return void.
