Five Decisions for Christ at Hispanic Church in Lakeville, Minnesota
Susan and I had a great time of ministry at Bienvenidos a Jesús Church in Lakeville, Minnesota on Sunday, January 22. I preached on “Life and Life More Abundantly” from John 10:10, telling the people that God has provided victory for them in Christ Jesus.
Five people made decisions for Christ and we prayed for many needs among the people. According to the pastor, the people who came forward were all new to the church.
Bienvenidos a Jesús (Welcome to Jesus Church) is an outreach of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Lakeville. The work, which began in October of last year, is led by Paul and Teresa Stilwell. Paul and Teresa are missionaries to Mexico, who returned to the US last year to establish citizenship for Teresa. Trinity then invited then to come and establish the Hispanic congregation in Lakeville.
The congregation has been growing under their leadership, as they have been reaching out to the Spanish speaking population in area. People from Venezuela, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Mexico are part of the growing congregation.
Paul says, “We are learning first hand that the challenges of the US immigrant population are very different and difficult. the families often experience great trauma without the close-knit relationships that they are used to in their country of origin. Many live in loneliness, without any social network.” Bienvenidos a Jesús is seeking to meet that need and to provide spiritual sustenance for the people.
Tom Shanklin Ministries is happy to come along side and help with works like this that are making a real difference in people’s lives.
