Couple Receives a Beautiful New Baby as a Gift from God
By Tom Shanklin
When Brent and Jennifer Sietsema were married in May of 2010, they immediately began to plan for their new family.
They both wanted children, and they felt like Jennifer’s biological clock was running out. She was 33 years old at the time. They were soon delighted to find out that Jennifer was pregnant, but after 11 weeks she had a disappointing miscarriage. Then they tried once again, but this time she miscarried after only 9 1/2 weeks.
Brent and Jennifer live in the Des Moines area, but in March 2011 they were visiting Brent’s parents, Darwin and Sharon Sietsema, in Ruthton, Minnesota. On Sunday, March 13, they attended the Country Church in Ruthton where I was ministering that Sunday.
After my message I gave an invitation for those who had needs to come forth for prayer. According to Brent, this was the first time his wife had ever received prayer or the laying on of hands for a need during a church service. “This was a new experience for her,” he said.
The couple shared about the miscarriages, and asked for prayer that they would receive a healthy baby. Susan and I prayed in Jesus’ name for a healthy full-term baby and a normal birth. On Dec. 16, 2011 (just 9 months and 3 days later) Jasper James Sietsema was born. He was 7 lbs. 7 oz. and 21 inches long and as you can see, he is a wonderful gift from God.
Brent and Jennifer, who attend Valley Evangelical Free Church in Des Moines, are delighted about what God has done. God answers prayer and He is good at making babies.
