Benin Mission Gets Electricity
I spoke with Rev. Isaac Clossou about the work we have been supporting in Benin, West Africa. The two schools, Mt Moriah Bible School and Mt. Moriah Vocational and Technical High School, are both doing very well. Students are learning, the teachers are getting paid and Rev. Clossou has a vision for the school to become self-sustaining in the future.
With the help of designated gifts from our partners, we have been able to send monthly gifts to help provide food for the residential students. Rev. Clossou reports that the students have been eating regularly, and a cook has been hired to prepare food for the students. She lives on the property along with her husband and keeps very busy preparing meals. Her husband serves as a night watchman to keep the students safe and the property protected.
As you may already know, with the help of our partners, we have helped to drill a well and construct two buildings on the property so far (a dormitory and a classroom building). An administrative building and other additions are planned for the future. The entire property, until recently, was powered by a gas generator and solar power, but it became evident that more electrical power was needed. Power was brought into the property from two kilometers away at a cost of $3,000. Half of this amount was raised from offerings at their church, and the electric company is allowing them to pay the rest by May. By the grace of God, we received a special offering for Benin which enabled them to pay off the electric construction bill.
If you would like to invest in The Benin Vision to help with providing food for the residential students and to meet other needs, you can learn more and invest in the Benin Vision here.
