Benin: New building and an Expanded Vision
I have some new developments to report to you from the Mt. Moriah Bible School Project in Danzounmey, Benin, West Africa.
We have been involved in the development of this school for several years. Both Susan and I have taught in the school, and our ministry has provided funds for a well and has helped to construct a dormitory on this very rural property.
Late last year, we received a surprise supernatural offering for the construction of a second building to be used for classrooms, a kitchen, and a dining room. I am happy to report that the second building is now completed.
The Bible School is continuing to produce much good fruit. As we have shared previously, the purpose of the school is to train ministers, especially for the rural areas of Benin, where the need is great. To date, the school has now graduated five students who are in full-time ministry as pastors and nine students who are in part-time ministry. Praise the Lord!
Now, the pastor and his family, who were resident pastors at the Bible School at Danzounmey, have been sent out to the neighboring nation of Togo as missionaries, and one of the graduates from the Bible School has become the resident pastor.
The property is being put to maximum productivity with the Bible School, a local church, a conference center, and a monthly 3-day prayer meeting, which draws people from all over Benin. People receive salvation and healing miracles frequently. An evangelist friend, who visited the property recently, told me that the place is looking “very apostolic,” with much nation-changing activity for the Kingdom of God.
But now, the vision for the property is expanding even further! Rev. Issac Clossou of Messenger Church of God, who leads the ministry, told me that they have obtained a license from the government to add a Vocational and Technical High School on the property. This school will provide training in three areas—building construction, electrical, and sewing and clothing design.
This means that the Tabitha Project, another initiative that we have supported in Benin with the purpose of training women as seamstresses, will be incorporated into the new Vocational and Technical School. The sewing machines, which we purchased with the help of our partners, will be moved to the property at Danzounmey, and the seamstress/teacher will be also moving there.
Rev. Clossou said that this is part of a vision to minister to people holistically—spirit, soul, and body—and to improve the value of people’s lives in the nation of Benin and beyond. For young women, it will mean not being forced into an unhappy marriage at an early age. For young men, it will give them purpose in life and keep them from getting in trouble and causing problems in the communities. The students in the Vocational School will also receive spiritual training to prepare them for life and service to the Lord.
The plan is to open the vocational school in mid-September 2023, as the finances are available. Meanwhile, the new term for the Bible School also begins in September. We have been providing support for the Bible School and also for the Tabitha Project as we are able.
Please pray for the vision for the property at Danzoumey as a Bible School, local church, conference center, and now a Vocational and Technical High School. Susan and I hope to return to Benin soon to see the great things that God is doing.
If you are led by the Lord to help to provide funds for the new school year for the Bible School and the new Vocational and Technical High School, you can:
